Hadith 551:23

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Abu Salih, who said: 'Amr ibn al-'As asked for permission to enter upon Fatimah, and she gave him permission. He said: "Then is 'Ali [there]?" They said: "No." So he returned. Then he asked for permission to enter upon her another time, and he said: "Then is 'Ali [there]?" They said: "Yes." So he entered upon her. 'Ali said to him: "What prevented you from entering when you did not find me here?" He said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade us from entering upon women whose husbands are away."

حدثنا أبو معاوية، عن الأعمش، عن أبي صالح، قال: استأذن عمرو بن العاص على فاطمة، فأذنت له، قال: ثم علي؟، قالوا: لا، قال: فرجع ثم استأذن عليها مرة أخرى، فقال: ثم علي؟، قالوا: نعم فدخل عليها، فقال له علي: ما منعك أن تدخل حين لم تجدني هاهنا، قال: " إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، نهانا أن ندخل على المغيبات "
