Hadith of ‘Amr ibn al-Qari, from his father, from his grandfather

Hadith 342:1

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Wuhayb narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn 'Uthman ibn Khuthaym narrated to us, from 'Amr ibn al-Qari, from his father, from his grandfather 'Amr ibn al-Qari, that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) arrived, and he had left Sa'd behind, sick, when he went out to Hunayn. When he arrived from Ji'ranah as an 'Umrah performer, he entered upon him while he was sick and overcome [by illness]. He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have wealth, and I have no heirs except a distant relative (kalalah). Shall I bequeath all of my wealth or give it in charity?" He said: "No." He said: "Shall I bequeath two-thirds of it?" He said: "No." He said: "Shall I bequeath half of it?" He said: "No." He said: "Shall I bequeath a third of it?" He said: "Yes, and that is much." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, shall I die in the land from which I departed as a Muhajir (emigrant)?" He said: "I truly hope that Allah will raise you up, so that He may harm some people through you and benefit others through you. O 'Amr ibn al-Qari, if Sa'd dies after me, then bury him here, towards the road to Medina," and he gestured with his hand like this.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
