Hadith of ‘Amr ibn Kharijah (RA)

Hadith 533:3

'Affan narrated to us, he said: Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, he said: Qatadah informed us, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, from 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam, from 'Amr ibn Kharijah, who said: I was holding the rein of the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) while it was chewing its cud and its saliva was flowing between my shoulders. He said: "Indeed, Allah has given every person who has a right his right. There is no bequest for an heir. The child belongs to the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone. Whoever claims [lineage] to other than his father, or affiliates himself with other than his masters, upon him is the curse of Allah, the angels, and all of mankind." 'Affan said: Hammam added in it with this chain of narration—and he did not mention 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Ghanam—"And I was beneath the neck of his riding beast." And he added in it: "Neither a ransom nor a compensation will be accepted from him." And in the hadith of Hammam: That the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) delivered a sermon and said: "Turning away from them."
