Hadith 864:1
'Affan narrated to us, Jarir ibn Hazim narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Hasan narrate that 'Amr ibn Taghlib narrated to him that something came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), so he gave it to some people and left others. Jarir said: He gave to some men and left others. He said: It reached him that those whom he left were displeased and spoke. He said: So he ascended the pulpit, praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: "I give to some people and leave others, and I give to some men and leave others." 'Affan said: He said "this and that," and "the ones I leave are more beloved to me than the ones I give. I give to some people because of the anxiety and panic in their hearts, and I entrust some people to what Allah has placed in their hearts of richness and goodness; among them is 'Amr ibn Taghlib." He said: And I was sitting facing the face of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and he said: "I would not love that I had red camels in exchange for the words of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)."
حدثنا عفان حدثنا جرير بن حازم قال سمعت الحسن حدثنا عمرو بن تغلب أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أتاه شيء فأعطاه ناسا وترك ناسا وقال جرير أعطى رجالا وترك رجالا قال فبلغه عن الذين ترك أنهم عتبوا وقالوا قال فصعد المنبر فحمد الله وأثنى عليه ثم قال إني أعطي ناسا وأدع ناسا وأعطي رجالا وأدع رجالا قال عفان قال ذي وذي والذي أدع أحب إلي من الذي أعطي أعطي أناسا لما في قلوبهم من الجزع والهلع وأكل قوما إلى ما جعل الله في قلوبهم من الغنى والخير منهم عمرو بن تغلب قال وكنت جالسا تلقاء وجه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال ما أحب أن لي بكلمة رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم حمر النعم
