Hadith of Asma bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (RA)

Hadith 1167:45

Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, he said: Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, from his father, from his grandmother Asma' bint Abi Bakr, she said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, halted at Dhu Tuwa, Abu Quhafah said to a daughter of his, one of his youngest children: "O my daughter, take me up to [the top of] Abu Qubays." She said: And his eyesight had failed. She said: So I took him up to it, and he said: "O my daughter, what do you see?" She said: "I see a gathered blackness." He said: "That is the cavalry." She said: "And I see a man running between that blackness, coming and going." He said: "O my daughter, that is the *wazi'* (the one who directs)," meaning the one who commands the cavalry and advances toward them. Then she said: "By Allah, the blackness has spread." He said: "By Allah, then the cavalry has been unleashed, so hurry with me to my house." So she descended with him, and the cavalry met him before he reached his house. Around the girl's neck was a necklace of hers made of silver, and a man met her and snatched it from her neck. She said: When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, entered Makkah and entered the mosque, Abu Bakr brought his father to him. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saw him, he said: "Why did you not leave the old man in his house so that I could have come to him there?" Abu Bakr said: "O Messenger of Allah, he is more deserving of walking to you than you are of walking to him." She said: So he seated him before him, then wiped his chest, then said to him: "Accept Islam." So he accepted Islam. Abu Bakr brought him in to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and his head was like *thughamah* (a white plant). The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Change this [color] of his hair." Then Abu Bakr stood up and took his sister's hand and said: "I adjure by Allah and Islam [for the return of] my sister's necklace." But no one answered him. So he said: "O my sister, seek the reward for your necklace from Allah."
