Musnad Ahmad 1167:46

Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, he said: Yahya ibn 'Abbad ibn 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr narrated to me, that his father narrated to him, from his grandmother Asma' bint Abi Bakr, she said: "When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) departed, and Abu Bakr departed with him, Abu Bakr took all of his wealth with him: five thousand dirhams, or six thousand dirhams." She said: "And he went off with it with him." She said: "Then my grandfather Abu Quhafa entered upon us, and he had lost his sight. He said: 'By Allah, I see that he has afflicted you with the loss of his wealth along with himself.' She said: 'I said: No, father, he has left us much good.'" She said: "So I took stones and placed them in a niche of the house where my father used to place his wealth, then I placed a cloth over them. Then I took his hand and said: 'O father, place your hand on this wealth.'" She said: "So he placed his hand upon it and said: 'There is no harm; if he has left this for you, then he has done well, and in this there is enough for you.'" She said: "And by Allah, he did not leave us anything, but I only wanted to put the old man at ease by that."
