Hadith of Asma bint Abi Bakr al-Siddiq (RA)
Hadith 1167:65
Hujayn ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Aziz—meaning Ibn Abi Salamah al-Majishun—narrated to us, from Muhammad—meaning Ibn al-Munkadir—who said: Asma used to narrate from the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. She said: He said: "When a person enters his grave, if he is a believer, his deeds surround him: the prayer and the fasting." He said: "Then the angel comes to him from the direction of the prayer, and it repels him, and from the direction of the fasting, and it repels him." He said: "Then it calls out to him: 'Sit up.'" He said: "So he sits up, and it says to him: 'What do you say about this man?'—meaning the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He says: 'Who?' It says: 'Muhammad.' He says: 'I bear witness that he is the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.'" He said: "It says: 'And what makes you know? Did you reach him?' He says: 'I bear witness that he is the Messenger of Allah.' It says: 'Upon that you lived, and upon that you died, and upon that you will be resurrected.'" He said: "And if he is a wicked person or a disbeliever," he said: "The angel comes, and there is nothing between him and it to repel it." He said: "So it makes him sit up." He said: "It says: 'Sit up. What do you say about this man?' He says: 'Which man?' It says: 'Muhammad.' He says: 'By Allah, I do not know. I heard the people saying something, so I said it.'" He said: "Then the angel says to him: 'Upon that you lived, and upon that you died, and upon that you will be resurrected.'" He said: "And a beast is unleashed upon him in his grave, with it a whip, its tip being a coal like the hump of a camel. It strikes him for as long as Allah wills; it is deaf, not hearing his voice so as to have mercy on him."
