Hadith 1296:3
'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar narrated to us, from al-Zuhri, he said: Abu Bakr ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Harith ibn Hisham informed me, from Asma' bint 'Umays, she said: The first time the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) fell ill was in the house of Maymunah. His illness intensified until he fainted, so his wives consulted regarding administering medicine to him (ladud), and they administered it to him. When he regained consciousness, he said: "What is this?" We said: "This is the action of women who came from over there," and he gestured toward the land of Abyssinia, and Asma' bint 'Umays was among them. They said: "We suspected you had pleurisy, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "That is a disease that Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, would not afflict me with. Let no one remain in this house without being administered the medicine, except for the uncle of the Messenger of Allah," meaning al-'Abbas. She said: So Maymunah was administered the medicine that day, even though she was fasting, due to the firm command of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
