Hadith of ‘Awf bin Malik al-Ashja‘i al-Ansari (RA)

حديث عوف بن مالك الأشجعي الأنصاري

Hadith 1119:11

Al-Hasan ibn Siwar narrated to us, he said: Layth narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah, from 'Amr ibn Qays al-Kindi, that he heard 'Asim ibn Humayd saying: I heard 'Awf ibn Malik saying: I stood with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and he began by using the siwak, then he performed wudu, then he stood to pray and I stood with him. He began and opened with al-Baqarah. He would not pass by a verse of mercy except that he stopped and asked, and he would not pass by a verse of punishment except that he stopped and sought refuge. Then he recited Al 'Imran, then a surah, and he did the same as that.
