Musnad Ahmad 1119:17

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, he said: Safwan narrated to us, he said: Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr ibn Nufayr narrated to us, from his father, from Awf ibn Malik al-Ashja‘i, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) received spoils (fay’), he would distribute them on the same day. He would give the one with a family two shares, and he would give the bachelor one share. We were called, and I was called before Ammar ibn Yasir. I was called, and he gave me two shares, for I had a family. Then he called after me Ammar ibn Yasir, and he was given one share. There remained a piece of a gold chain, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began to lift it with the tip of his staff, then he raised it while saying: "How will you be on a day when this becomes abundant for you?"
