Musnad Ahmad 1119:25

Harun narrated to us, he said: Ibn Wahb narrated to us, he said: ‘Amr ibn al-Harith narrated to us, from Bukayr ibn ‘Abd Allah, that Ya‘qub, his brother, and Ibn Abi Hafsah narrated to him, that ‘Abd Allah ibn Yazid, the storyteller of Maslamah in Constantinople, narrated to them, from ‘Awf ibn Malik al-Ashja‘i, he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say: "No one shall tell stories to the people except an amir (commander), or one who is commanded, or a show-off (arrogant person)."
