Musnad Ahmad 1119:35

Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, he said: Ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, from Safwan ibn ‘Amr, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr, from his father, from ‘Awf ibn Malik, who said: "When the *fay’* (spoils of war acquired without fighting) would come to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he would distribute it on the same day. He would give the one with a family two shares, and he would give the bachelor one share."
