Hadith of ‘Awf bin Malik al-Ashja‘i al-Ansari (RA)
Hadith 1119:6
'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, from Mu'awiyah, from Habib ibn 'Ubayd, who said: Jubayr ibn Nufayr narrated to me, from 'Awf, who said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) pray over a deceased person, and I understood from his prayer over him: "O Allah, forgive him, have mercy on him, grant him well-being, and pardon him. Honor his reception, expand his entrance, and wash him with water, snow, and hail. Purify him of sins as the white garment is purified of filth. Replace his home with a home better than his home, his family with a family better than his family, and his spouse with a spouse better than his spouse. Admit him into Paradise, save him from the Fire, and protect him from the punishment of the grave."
