Musnad Ahmad 792:29

Isma'il narrated to us, Bahz bin Hakim bin Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: I heard the Prophet of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, saying: "There was a servant among the servants of Allah to whom Allah gave wealth and children. He did not profess any religion to Allah. He remained thus until his life had passed and only a little remained, then he remembered, and he knew that he would not have stored up any good with Allah. He called his sons and said: 'What kind of father do you know me to be?' They said: 'The best of fathers, O our father.' He said: 'By Allah, I will not leave any wealth with any of you that is from me except that I will take it from him, and you shall do with me what I command you.' He took a covenant from them by my Lord, and said: 'If it must be so, then when I die, throw me into the fire until I become charcoal, then crush me.'" He said: It is as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, as he gestured with his hand upon his thigh, "Then scatter me in the wind, perhaps I may escape Allah." He said: "They did that to him, by the Lord of Muhammad, when he died. Then he was brought forth in the best state he had ever been in. He was presented to his Lord, and He said: 'What prompted you to do what you did to the fire?' He said: 'Fear of You, O my Lord.' He said: 'I hear that you were indeed fearful,' and he was forgiven."
