Hadith of Bahz bin Hakim, from his father, from his grandfather (RA)

حديث بهز بن حكيم، عن أبيه، عن جده

Hadith 792:36

Yahya narrated to us, from Bahz, who said: My father narrated to me, from my grandfather, who said: I said: "O Messenger of Allah, we are a people who ask for our wealth [to be supplemented/helped]." He said: "One of you may ask regarding a calamity or a rupture [in affairs] to reconcile between his people. But if he reaches [his need] or nears it, he should refrain."

حدثنا يحيى، عن بهز، قال: حدثني أبي، عن جدي، قال: قلت: يا رسول الله، إنا قوم نتساءل أموالنا، قال: " يسأل أحدكم في الجائحة، والفتق ليصلح بين قومه، فإذا بلغ أو كرب، استعف "
