Hadith of Bahz bin Hakim, from his father, from his grandfather (RA)

Hadith 792:4

'Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar narrated to us, from Bahz ibn Hakim ibn Mu'awiyah, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, took some people from my tribe on suspicion and imprisoned them. A man from my tribe came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while he was delivering a sermon, and said: "O Muhammad, for what reason do you imprison my neighbors?" The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, remained silent toward him. The man then said: "Indeed, some people say that you forbid evil, yet you seclude yourself with it." The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "What is he saying?" I began to intervene between them with speech, fearing that he [the Prophet] would hear it and invoke a supplication against my tribe, after which they would never prosper. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not cease [questioning] him until he understood it. He then said: "They have indeed said it, or the one who said it is among them. By Allah, if I had done that, it would be upon me, and it would not be upon them. Release his neighbors for him."
