Musnad Ahmad 792:7

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Abu Qaza'ah al-Bahili informed us, from Hakim ibn Mu'awiyah, from his father, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "I did not come to you until I swore by the number of these fingers of mine that I would not come to you"—'Affan showed us by folding his palms—"So, by the One who sent you with the truth, what is that which He sent you with?" He said: "Islam." I said: "And what is Islam?" He said: "That your heart submits to Allah, that you turn your face toward Allah, that you perform the prescribed prayer, and that you pay the obligatory zakat—two brothers who support one another. Allah does not accept from anyone a repentance after he has associated partners with Him after his Islam." I said: "What is the right of the wife of one of us upon him?" He said: "That you feed her when you eat, that you clothe her when you clothe yourself, that you do not strike the face, that you do not revile, and that you do not forsake [her] except within the house." He said: "You will be gathered here"—and he gestured with his hand toward the direction of Ash-Sham—"walking and riding, and you will be presented to Allah upon your faces, with the *fidam* (muzzle/covering) over your mouths, and the first thing that will speak for any of you is his thigh."
