Hadith of Bashir ibn al-Khasasiyah (RA)

حديث بشير ابن الخصاصية

Hadith 905:0

Narrated Bashir ibn al-Khasasiyah: I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) to pledge allegiance to him on Islam. He stipulated to me the prayer, the zakat, the pilgrimage, fasting the month of Ramadan, and doing good. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, as for two of them, I cannot bear them: as for the zakat, I have only a few camels, and my family depends on them. And as for the jihad, they claim that whoever flees is struck by the wrath of Allah, and I fear that if the battle comes, my soul will become anxious and I will dislike death." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) grasped his hand, then shook it, then said: "No zakat and no jihad? Then with what will you enter Paradise?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, pledge allegiance to me." So I pledged allegiance to him on all of them.
