Hadith 888:4
Rawh ibn ‘Ubadah narrated to us, Qurrah ibn Khalid narrated to us, he said: I heard Yazid ibn ‘Abdullah ibn al-Shikhkhir say: We were sitting at al-Mirbad, when a man from the people of the desert came upon us. When we saw him, we said: It is as if this man is not from the people of the town. He said: Yes. And with him was a document on a piece of leather—he said: And perhaps he said: on a piece of a satchel—and he said: This is a document that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, wrote for me. In it was: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. This is a document from Muhammad the Prophet, the Messenger of Allah, to the Banu Zuhayr ibn Uqaysh, and they are a clan from ‘Ukl: That if you establish the prayer, and give the zakat, and separate from the polytheists, and give the fifth of the spoils, then the share of the Prophet, and the *safiyy*—and perhaps he said: and his *safiyy*—then you are secure with the security of Allah and the security of His Messenger." He then mentioned the meaning of the hadith of al-Jurayri.
حدثنا روح بن عبادة، حدثنا قرة بن خالد، قال: سمعت يزيد بن عبد الله بن الشخير، قال: كنا بالمربد جلوسا، فأتى علينا رجل من أهل البادية، لما رأيناه قلنا: كأن هذا رجل ليس من أهل البلد، قال: أجل، فإذا معه كتاب في قطعة أديم، قال: وربما قال: في قطعة جراب، فقال: هذا كتاب كتبه لي رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم، فإذا فيه: " بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، هذا كتاب من محمد النبي رسول الله لبني زهير بن أقيش، وهم حي من عكل، إنكم إن أقمتم الصلاة، وآتيتم الزكاة، وفارقتم المشركين، وأعطيتم الخمس من المغنم، ثم سهم النبي، والصفي، وربما قال: وصفيه، فأنتم آمنون بأمان الله، وأمان رسوله "، فذكر معنى حديث الجريرى
