Hadith of Buraydah al-Aslami (RA)

Hadith 1017:111

'Affan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Warith narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Jahadah narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: "Whoever grants respite to one in hardship, for him is the equivalent of it in charity for every day." He said: Then I heard him say: "Whoever grants respite to one in hardship, for him is twice the equivalent of it in charity for every day." I said: I heard you, O Messenger of Allah, say: "Whoever grants respite to one in hardship, for him is the equivalent of it in charity for every day," then I heard you say: "Whoever grants respite to one in hardship, for him is twice the equivalent of it in charity for every day." He said to him: "For every day is a charity before the debt becomes due. Then, when the debt becomes due and he grants him respite, for him is twice the equivalent of it in charity for every day."
