Musnad Ahmad 1017:70

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from Layth, from Alqamah ibn Marthad, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The status of the wives of the mujahideen (those striving in the cause of Allah) compared to those who stay behind is, in terms of sanctity, like the status of their mothers. And there is no one who stays behind and takes charge of the family of a mujahid, then betrays him regarding his family, except that he will be made to stand before him on the Day of Resurrection. It will be said to him: 'This man betrayed you regarding your family, so take whatever you wish from his deeds.'" He then said: "So what do you think?"
