Musnad Ahmad 1017:77

Abu Tamila Yahya ibn Wadih narrated to us, Husayn ibn Waqid informed us, Abdullah ibn Buraydah narrated to me, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned from one of his military expeditions, and a black slave girl came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I had vowed that if Allah returned you safely, I would beat the duff (tambourine) over your head." He said: "If you have made a vow, then do it; otherwise, do not." She said: "I have indeed made a vow." He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sat down, and she beat the duff.
