Musnad Ahmad 552:3

Muhammad ibn Ja‘far narrated to us, he said: ‘Awf narrated to us, from Abu al-Qamus, he said: One of the delegation who came to the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) narrated to me—if he did not say: Qays ibn al-Nu‘man, for I have forgotten his name—and he mentioned the hadith. He said: And he supplicated earnestly for ‘Abd al-Qays, and his face was turned here away from the Qiblah—meaning to the right of the Qiblah—until he faced the Qiblah, then he supplicated for ‘Abd al-Qays. Then he said: "Indeed, the best of the people of the East are ‘Abd al-Qays."
