Musnad Ahmad 1255:15

Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, my father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: 'Imran ibn Abi Anas, brother of the Banu 'Amir ibn Lu'ayy, narrated to me, from Abu Salamah ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, from Fatimah bint Qays, sister of al-Dahhak ibn Qays, who said: I was with Abu 'Amr ibn Hafs ibn al-Mughirah, and he had divorced me twice. Then he traveled with 'Ali ibn Abi Talib to Yemen when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) sent him there. He sent me my third divorce, and his agent in Medina was 'Ayyash ibn Abi Rabi'ah ibn al-Mughirah. She said: I said to him, "My maintenance and my housing." He said, "You have no maintenance or housing upon us, unless we bestow upon you from our side as a kindness that we do." She said: I said, "If I have no right to it, I have no need of it." She said: So I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him of my news and what 'Ayyash had said to me. He said: "He spoke the truth. You have no maintenance or housing upon them, and he has no right to take you back. You must observe the waiting period ('iddah). Move to Umm Sharik, your cousin, and stay with her until you become lawful (to remarry)." She said: Then he said: "No, that is a woman whom her brothers among the Muslims visit. Rather, move to your cousin Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is blind, and stay with him. When you become lawful, do not let me miss you (do not marry anyone else without informing me)." She said: By Allah, I do not think the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) at that time wanted me for anything other than himself. She said: When I became lawful, he proposed to me on behalf of Usamah ibn Zayd, and he married me to him. Abu Salamah said: She dictated this hadith of hers to me, and I wrote it with my own hand.
