Musnad Ahmad 1255:20

Ya'qub narrated to us, he said: My father narrated to us, from Ibn Ishaq, who said: Muhammad ibn Muslim al-Zuhri mentioned that Qabisah ibn Dhu'ayb narrated to him that the daughter of Sa'id ibn Zayd ibn 'Amr ibn Nufayl—and Fatimah bint Qays was her maternal aunt—was married to 'Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn 'Uthman, who divorced her three times. Her maternal aunt, Fatimah bint Qays, sent for her and moved her to her house, while Marwan ibn al-Hakam was over Medina. Qabisah said: Marwan sent me to her, and I asked her: "What compelled a woman to leave her house before her waiting period had ended?" She said: "Because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded me to do so." She then narrated her story to me, and then said: "And I dispute with you using the Book of Allah. Allah the Almighty says in His Book: 'When you divorce women, divorce them for their waiting period and keep count of the waiting period, and fear Allah, your Lord. Do not turn them out of their houses, nor should they leave, unless they commit a clear immorality' [At-Talaq: 1], up to: 'Perhaps Allah will bring about after that a matter' [At-Talaq: 1]. Then Allah the Almighty said: 'And when they have fulfilled their term' [At-Talaq: 2], the third [time]: 'Then either retain them according to acceptable terms or part with them according to acceptable terms' [Al-Baqarah: 231]. By Allah, Allah did not mention any confinement after the third [divorce], along with what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded me." He said: I returned to Marwan and informed him of her account. He said: "The speech of a woman, the speech of a woman." He then ordered that the woman be returned to her house until her waiting period had ended.
