Musnad Ahmad 1255:29

Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, he said: Mujalid narrated to us, 'Amir narrated, he said: I came to Medina and went to Fatimah bint Qays, and she narrated to me that her husband divorced her during the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, while the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, had sent him out in a military expedition. His brother said to me: "Leave the house." I said: "I have a right to maintenance and housing until the term is completed." He said: "No." She said: So I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "So-and-so has divorced me, and his brother has evicted me and denied me housing and maintenance." He sent for him and said: "What is the matter with you and the daughter of the family of Qays?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, my brother divorced her three times all at once." She said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to me: "Look, O daughter of the family of Qays, maintenance and housing are only for the woman from her husband as long as he has the right to return to her. If he does not have the right to return to her, then there is no maintenance and no housing. Leave and stay with so-and-so." Then he said: "She is someone people talk to; stay with Ibn Umm Maktum, for he is blind and will not see you." Then he said: "Do not marry until I am the one who marries you off." She said: A man from Quraysh proposed to me, so I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to seek his counsel. He said: "Will you not marry someone who is more beloved to me than him?" I said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." So he married me to whom he loved. She said: He married me to Usamah ibn Zayd.
