Hadith of Fatimah bint Qais (RA)

Hadith 1204:2

He said: When I intended to leave, she said: "Sit down until I tell you a hadith from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." She said: "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, went out one day and performed the midday prayer (al-hajirah), then he sat down, and the people were alarmed. He said: 'Sit down, O people, for I did not stand in this place of mine due to alarm, but Tamim al-Dari came to me and told me news that prevented me from taking a nap due to joy and delight of the eye, and I wanted to spread the joy of your Prophet to you. He informed me that a group of his cousins boarded the sea, and a stormy wind struck them, and the wind drove them to an island they did not know. They sat in the small boats of the ship until they reached the island, and there they found a creature with thick hair, so hairy that they did not know if it was a man or a woman. They greeted it, and it returned the greeting. They said: 'Will you not tell us?' It said: 'I am not going to tell you, nor am I going to ask you, but this monastery you have approached, for in it is one who is eager for your news, to tell you and to be told by you.' He said: We said: 'Who are you?' It said: 'I am al-Jassasah.' So they went until they reached the monastery, and there they found a man bound with heavy shackles, showing sadness, complaining much. They greeted him, and he returned the greeting and said: 'Who are you from?' They said: 'From the Arabs.' He said: 'What have the Arabs done? Has their Prophet emerged yet?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'And what have they done?' They said: 'Good; they believed in him and testified to him.' He said: 'That is better for them. And he had an enemy, but Allah gave him victory over them.' He said: 'So do the Arabs today have one God, one religion, and one word?' They said: 'Yes.' He said: 'And what has the spring of Zughar done?' They said: 'It is fine; its people drink from it for their thirst, and they irrigate their crops from it.' He said: 'And what has the palm tree between Amman and Baysan done?' They said: 'It is fine; it bears its fruit every year.' He said: 'And what has the Lake of Tiberias done?' They said: 'It is full.' He said: 'Then he sighed, then he sighed, then he sighed, then he swore: "If I were to leave this place of mine, I would not leave any land of Allah's lands except that I would tread upon it, except for Tayyibah (Medina), for I have no authority over it."' He said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'To this my joy reached,' three times. 'Indeed, Tayyibah is Medina. Allah has forbidden my sanctuary to the Dajjal, that he should enter it.' Then the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, swore: 'By the One besides Whom there is no god, there is no narrow or wide path in the plains or in the mountains except that there is an angel upon it with a drawn sword until the Day of Resurrection; the Dajjal will not be able to enter it upon its people.'" Amir said: I met al-Muharrir ibn Abi Hurayrah and told him the hadith of Fatimah bint Qays. He said: "I bear witness to my father that he narrated to me just as Fatimah narrated to you, except that he said: The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: 'It is towards the East.'" He said: Then I met al-Qasim ibn Muhammad and mentioned the hadith of Fatimah to him. He said: "I bear witness to Aisha that she narrated to me just as Fatimah narrated to you, except that she said: 'The two sanctuaries are forbidden to him: Mecca and Medina.'"
