Musnad Ahmad 441:3

Abu al-Mughirah narrated to us, Safwan narrated to us, the sheikhs narrated to me that they were present with Ghudayf ibn al-Harith al-Thumali when his death throes intensified. He said, "Is there anyone among you who recites Ya-Sin?" Salih ibn Shurayh al-Sakuni recited it, and when he reached forty verses of it, he [Ghudayf] passed away. The sheikhs used to say: "If it is recited in the presence of the dying person, it lightens [the burden] for him." Safwan said: "And Isa ibn al-Mu'tamir recited it in the presence of Ibn Ma'bad."
