Hadith 866:3
Hassan ibn Musa and Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, they said: Shayban narrated to us, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Hayyah, who narrated to him, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is nothing in the *hamah* (the belief that the owl or the spirit of the dead brings bad luck), and the evil eye is true, and the most truthful of omens is the *fa'l* (optimistic word)."
حدثنا حسن بن موسى، وحسين بن محمد، قالا: حدثنا شيبان، عن يحيى بن أبي كثير، عن حية، حدثه، عن أبيه، عن أبي هريرة، أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " لا شيء في الهام، والعين حق، وأصدق الطير الفأل " . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
