Hadith of Hafsa (RA), the Mother of the Believers, daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA)
حديث حفصة أم المؤمنين بنت عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنهما
Hadith 1155:42
'Affan narrated to us, he said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, he said: 'Asim ibn Bahdalah narrated to us, from Sawa' al-Khuza'i, from Hafsa, the wife of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, who said: When the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would retire to his bed, he would lie on his right hand, then say: "My Lord, protect me from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants," three times. He would use his right hand for his eating, his drinking, his ablution, his clothing, his taking, and his giving. He would use his left hand for everything other than that. He would fast three days of every month: Monday, Thursday, and the Monday of the following week.
حدثنا عفان، قال: حدثنا حماد بن سلمة، قال: حدثنا عاصم بن بهدلة، عن سواء الخزاعي، عن حفصة، زوج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قالت: كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم إذا أوى إلى فراشه، اضطجع على يده اليمنى، ثم قال: " رب قني عذابك يوم تبعث عبادك " ثلاث مرار، وكان يجعل يمينه لأكله وشربه، ووضوئه وثيابه، وأخذه وعطائه، وكان يجعل شماله لما سوى ذلك، وكان يصوم ثلاثة أيام من كل شهر: الاثنين، والخميس، والاثنين من الجمعة الأخرى "
