Hadith of Hafsa (RA), the Mother of the Believers, daughter of Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA)
حديث حفصة أم المؤمنين بنت عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنهما
Hadith 1155:8
'Abd al-Jabbar ibn Muhammad al-Khattabi narrated to us, in the year two hundred and eight, he said: 'Ubayd Allah ibn 'Amr al-Raqqi narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Karim—meaning al-Jazari—from Nafi', from Ibn 'Umar, from Hafsah: "That the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when the mu'adhdhin gave the adhan, would pray two rak'ahs, and food would become forbidden, and he would not give the adhan until the dawn appeared."
حدثنا عبد الجبار بن محمد الخطابي، في سنة ثمان ومائتين قال: حدثنا عبيد الله بن عمرو الرقي، عن عبد الكريم يعني الجزري، عن نافع، عن ابن عمر، عن حفصة " أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا أذن المؤذن صلى ركعتين، وحرم الطعام، وكان لا يؤذن حتى يطلع الفجر "
