Hadith of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman (RA) from the Prophet (SAW)

Hadith 1034:113

'Affan narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umayr narrated to us, from Rib'i, who said: 'Uqbah ibn 'Amr said to Hudhayfah: "Will you not narrate to us what you heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say?" He said: "I heard him say: 'Indeed, with the Dajjal, when he emerges, there is water and fire. That which the people see as fire is cold water, and as for that which the people see as water, it is fire that burns. So whoever among you reaches that, let him fall into that which he sees as fire, for it is sweet, cold water.'" Hudhayfah said: "And I heard him say: 'A man from those before you was visited by an angel to take his soul. It was said to him: "Did you do any good?" He said: "I do not know." It was said to him: "Look." He said: "I do not know of anything, except that I used to trade with people and give them credit, so I would grant respite to the wealthy and overlook the needy." So Allah admitted him into Paradise.'" He said: "And I heard him say: 'A man was approached by death, and when he despaired of life, he instructed his family: "When I die, gather for me a large amount of firewood, then kindle a fire in it until it consumes my flesh and reaches my bone and I am charred. Then take it and scatter it into the sea." They did so, and Allah gathered him together and said to him: "Why did you do that?" He said: "Out of fear of You." So Allah forgave him.'" 'Uqbah ibn 'Amr said: "And I heard him say that, and he was a grave robber." *** 'Abdullah narrated to us, my father narrated to me, 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad narrated to us—and I heard it myself from 'Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah—Abu Usamah narrated to us, from al-Walid ibn Jumi', Abu al-Tufayl narrated to us, Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman narrated to us, saying: "Nothing prevented me from witnessing Badr except that I went out, I and my father Husayl, and the disbelievers of Quraysh took us. They said: 'Do you intend to go to Muhammad?' We said: 'We do not intend him; we only intend Medina.' So they took from us the covenant of Allah and His pledge that we would return to Medina and not fight alongside him. We came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and informed him of the news. He said: 'Return; we will fulfill their covenant for them and seek the help of Allah against them.'"
