Musnad Ahmad 1034:14

Abu Mu'awiyah narrated to us, Abu Malik al-Ashja'i narrated to us, from Rib'i ibn Hirash, from Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari and from Hudhayfah, they both said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "There was a man among those who were before you who used to commit sins. When death approached him, he said to his family: 'When I die, burn me, then grind me, then scatter me into the sea on a stormy, windy day.' He said: So when he died, they did that. He said: Then Allah gathered him in His hand and said to him: 'What compelled you to do what you did?' He said: 'Fear of You.' He said: 'Then I have forgiven you.'"
