Khalaf ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Yahya ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, al-‘Ala’ ibn al-Musayyab narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from Talhah ibn Yazid al-Ansari, from Hudhayfah, who said: I came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on a night in Ramadan. He stood to pray, and when he said the takbir, he said: "Allah is the Greatest, the Possessor of the Kingdom, the Power, the Majesty, and the Greatness." Then he recited al-Baqarah, then an-Nisa’, then Al ‘Imran. He did not pass by a verse of warning except that he paused at it. Then he bowed, saying: "Glory be to my Lord, the Almighty," for as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and said: "Allah hears those who praise Him; our Lord, to You be the praise," for as long as he had been standing. Then he prostrated, saying: "Glory be to my Lord, the Most High," for as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and said: "My Lord, forgive me," for as long as he had been standing. Then he prostrated, saying: "Glory be to my Lord, the Most High," for as long as he had been standing. Then he raised his head and stood up. He did not pray more than two rak'ahs until Bilal came and informed him of the prayer.
