Musnad Ahmad 1034:16

Abu Mu’awiyah narrated to us, Al-A’mash narrated to us, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Hudhayfah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated two hadiths to us; I have seen one of them, and I am awaiting the other. He narrated to us: "Indeed, trustworthiness descended into the root of the hearts of men, then the Quran descended, so they learned from the Quran and they learned from the Sunnah." Then he narrated to us regarding the removal of trustworthiness, and he said: "A man sleeps a sleep, and trustworthiness is seized from his heart, so its trace remains like the trace of a spot. Then he sleeps a sleep, and trustworthiness is seized from his heart, so its trace remains like the trace of a blister, like a coal you rolled upon your leg; you see it raised, yet there is nothing in it." He said: Then he took a pebble and rolled it upon his leg. He said: "Then the people wake up trading, and hardly anyone performs the trust, until it is said: 'Indeed, among the tribe of so-and-so is an honest man,' until it is said to a man: 'How resilient he is, how witty he is, and how intelligent he is,' while there is not in his heart a mustard seed’s weight of faith." "And a time has come upon me when I would not care whom I traded with; if he were a Muslim, his religion would return him to me, and if he were a Christian or a Jew, his collector would return him to me. But as for today, I would not trade with any of you except for so-and-so and so-and-so."
