Musnad Ahmad 1034:75

'Affan narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us, from 'Adi ibn Thabit, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Thabit ibn Wadi'ah, that a man from Banu Fazarah came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, with dhabb (lizards) that he had hunted. He said: He began turning one of the dhabb between his hands, and said: "A nation that was transformed." He said: And the extent of my knowledge is that he said: "I do not know what they did." He said: "And I do not know, perhaps this is one of them." And Shu'bah said, and Husayn said, from Zayd ibn Wahb, from Hudhayfah: He said, and he mentioned something similar to this. He said: "So he did not command it, and he did not forbid anyone."
