Hadith 334:21

Makki ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, he said: Yazid ibn Abi Ubayd narrated to us, from Salamah ibn al-Akwa’, who said: I pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, then I moved to the shade of a tree. When the people thinned out from around the Messenger of Allah, he said: "O son of al-Akwa’, will you not pledge allegiance?" I said: I have already pledged allegiance, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "And again." He said: So I pledged allegiance to him a second time. Yazid said: I said: O Abu Muslim, upon what were you pledging allegiance that day? He said: Upon death.

حدثنا مكي بن إبراهيم، قال: حدثنا يزيد بن أبي عبيد، عن سلمة بن الأكوع قال: بايعت رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ثم عدلت إلى ظل شجرة، فلما خف الناس عن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: " يا ابن الأكوع، ألا تبايع؟ "، قلت: قد بايعت يا رسول الله، قال: " وأيضا "، قال: فبايعته الثانية، قال يزيد: فقلت: يا أبا مسلم، على أي شيء تبايعون يومئذ؟ قال: على الموت
