Musnad Ahmad 790:174

'Affan narrated to us, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, from Mutarrif, from 'Imran ibn Husayn, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade cauterization. Yet, we were cauterized, and we neither succeeded nor prospered.
