Hadith of Imran ibn Husain (RA)

Hadith 790:63

Isma'il narrated to us, Yunus informed us, he said: I was informed that al-Miswar came to al-Hasan and said: "A slave of mine ran away, and I vowed that if I were to see him, I would cut off his hand. He has now come, and he is at the bridge." He said: So al-Hasan said: "Do not cut off his hand." And he narrated to him that a man said to 'Imran ibn Husayn: "A slave of mine ran away, and I vowed that if I were to see him, I would cut off his hand." He said: "Do not cut off his hand, for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to lead us in prayer—or he said: he used to stand among us—and he would command us to give charity and forbid us from mutilation."
