Hadith 790:70
Sufyan narrated to us, from Ibn Jud'an, from al-Hasan, from 'Imran ibn Husayn, who said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) on a journey, and [the verse] was revealed: "O mankind, fear your Lord, indeed the earthquake of the Hour..." [Al-Hajj: 1]. 'Abdullah ibn Ahmad said: A word was omitted from my father [in the manuscript]. His riding beast [stopped], and the people stopped. He said: "Do you know what day that is?" They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. A word was omitted from my father [in the manuscript]. He said: "He will say: 'O Adam, send forth the contingent of the Fire.' He will say: 'And what is the contingent of the Fire?' He will say: 'From every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine to the Fire.'" He said: So they wept. He said: "Draw near and be upright; you are among the nations only like a mark [on the arm]. I truly hope that you will be a quarter of the people of Paradise. I truly hope that you will be a third of the people of Paradise."
حدثنا سفيان، عن ابن جدعان، عن الحسن، عن عمران بن حصين قال: كنا مع رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في سفر، فنزلت {يا أيها الناس اتقوا ربكم، إن زلزلة الساعة} [الحج: 1] ، قال عبد الله بن أحمد: سقطت على أبي كلمة، راحلته وقف الناس قال: " هل تدرون أي يوم ذاك؟ " قالوا: الله ورسوله أعلم.، سقطت على أبي كلمة، " يقول: يا آدم ابعث بعث النار. قال: وما بعث النار؟ قال: " من كل ألف تسعمائة وتسعة وتسعين إلى النار ". قال: فبكوا. قال: " قاربوا وسددوا ما أنتم في الأمم إلا كالرقمة. إني لأرجو أن تكونوا ربع أهل الجنة. إني لأرجو أن تكونوا ثلث أهل الجنة "
