Hadith of Imran ibn Husain (RA)

Hadith 790:80

Isma'il narrated to us, from Ayyub, from Abu Qilabah, from Abu al-Muhallab, from 'Imran ibn Husayn, who said: Thaqif were allies of Banu 'Uqayl. Thaqif captured two men from the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), and the companions of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) captured a man from Banu 'Uqayl, and al-'Adba' (the she-camel of the Prophet) was captured along with him. The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) came to him while he was in bonds, and he said: "O Muhammad! O Muhammad!" He said: "What is your matter?" He said: "For what did you take me? For what did you take the forerunner of the Hajj?"—exalting that. He said: "I took you for the crime of your allies, Thaqif." Then he turned away from him, and he said: "O Muhammad! O Muhammad!" The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) was merciful and tender-hearted, so he came to him and said: "What is your matter?" He said: "I am a Muslim." He said: "If you had said it while you were in control of your own affairs, you would have succeeded with all success." Then he turned away from him, and he called out to him: "O Muhammad! O Muhammad!" So he came to him and said: "What is your matter?" He said: "I am hungry, so feed me, and I am thirsty, so give me to drink." He said: "This is your need." He said: So he was ransomed for the two men. A woman from the Ansar was captured, and al-'Adba' was captured with her. The woman was in bonds, and one night she escaped from the bonds. She came to the camels, and whenever she approached a camel, it would bray, so she would leave it until she reached al-'Adba', and it did not bray. He said: It was a trained she-camel. She sat on its rear, then she urged it on, and it set off. They noticed her and pursued her, but she eluded them. She had vowed that if Allah saved her upon it, she would slaughter it. When she arrived in Medina, the people saw it and said: "Al-'Adba', the she-camel of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace)." She said: "I have vowed that if Allah saved me upon it, I would slaughter it." They came to the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and mentioned that to him. He said: "Subhan Allah! How evil is that with which she repaid it! Allah saved it, and she wants to slaughter it. There is no fulfillment of a vow in disobedience to Allah, and no vow in what the servant does not possess."
