Musnad Ahmad 459:17

Haywah ibn Shurayh narrated to us, Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid narrated to us, Buhayr ibn Sa’d narrated to us, from Khalid ibn Ma’dan, from Jubayr ibn Nufayr, from al-Irbad ibn Sariyah, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "That he used to pray for the first row three times, and for the one that follows it once."
