Hadith 1095:2
Hajjaj narrated to us, Sulayman ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas ibn Malik, [who said]: Mahmud ibn al-Rabi’ narrated to us, from ‘Itban ibn Malik. [Anas said]: So I met ‘Itban ibn Malik and said: "What is the hadith that has reached me regarding you?" He said: So he narrated to me, saying: "There was something wrong with my eyesight, so I sent to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: 'I would like for you to come to my house and pray in it, so that I may take it as a place of prayer.'" He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came, along with whoever of his companions wished [to come]. He said: So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) prayed in his house, while his companions were talking and mentioning the hypocrites and what they encountered from them, and they attributed the gravity of that to Malik ibn al-Dukhayshan. They wished that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would supplicate against him and that some evil would befall him. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah, and that I am the Messenger of Allah?" They said: "O Messenger of Allah, he says that, but it is not in his heart." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "No one testifies that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah, such that the Fire will consume him," or "the Fire will touch him."
حدثنا حجاج، حدثنا سليمان بن المغيرة، عن ثابت البناني، عن أنس بن مالك، حدثنا محمود بن الربيع، عن عتبان بن مالك، فلقيت عتبان بن مالك، فقلت: ما حديث بلغني عنك؟ قال: فحدثني قال: كان في بصري بعض الشيء، فبعثت إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقلت: إني أحب أن تجيء إلى منزلي تصلي فيه، فأتخذه مصلى، قال: فأقبل رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ومن شاء من أصحابه قال: فصلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في منزله وأصحابه يتحدثون ويذكرون المنافقين، وما يلقون منهم ويسندون عظم ذلك إلى مالك بن الدخيشن، وودوا أن لو دعا عليه رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وأصاب شرا، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " أليس يشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأني رسول الله؟ " قالوا: يا رسول الله، إنه ليقول ذلك وما هو في قلبه، فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: " لا يشهد أحد أنه لا إله إلا الله وأني رسول الله فتطعمه النار " أو " تمسه النار "
