Hadith 650:5
'Affan narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatadah narrated to us, al-'Ala' ibn Ziyad al-'Adawi narrated to us, he said: And Yazid, the brother of Mutarrif, narrated to me, he said: And 'Uqbah narrated to me—all of these say: Mutarrif narrated to me, that 'Iyad ibn Himar narrated to him that he heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, saying in his sermon: "Indeed, Allah the Almighty and Majestic has commanded me to teach you what you were ignorant of." Then he mentioned the hadith and said: "The weak one who has no strength, those who are among you as followers, who do not seek family nor wealth." A man said to Mutarrif: "O Abu 'Abd Allah, is he from the freed slaves (mawali) or from the Arabs?" He said: "He is the follower who is with a man, who obtains from his service [only] illicitly, not through marriage." And he said: "The people of Paradise are three: A ruler who is just, truthful, and certain; a man who is merciful and tender-hearted toward every relative and Muslim; and a chaste, poor man who gives charity." Hammam said: Some of Qatadah's companions said—and I do not know him except as Yunus al-Iskaf—he said to me: "Indeed, Qatadah did not hear the hadith of 'Iyad ibn Himar from Mutarrif." I said: "He narrated it to us from Mutarrif, and you say he did not hear it from Mutarrif?" He said: Then a Bedouin came and began asking him and became bold toward him. He said: So we said to the Bedouin, "Ask him: Did he hear the hadith of 'Iyad ibn Himar from Mutarrif?" So he asked him, and he said: "No, four [people] narrated it to me from Mutarrif," and he named the three that I mentioned to you.
حدثنا عفان، حدثنا همام، حدثنا قتادة، حدثنا العلاء بن زياد العدوي، قال: وحدثني يزيد أخو مطرف، قال: وحدثني عقبة، كل هؤلاء يقول، حدثني مطرف، أن عياض بن حمار، حدثه أنه سمع النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يقول في خطبته: " إن الله عز وجل، أمرني أن أعلمكم ما جهلتم " فذكر الحديث وقال: " الضعيف الذي لا زبر له، الذين هم فيكم تبع لا يبتغون أهلا، ولا مالا " قال: قال رجل لمطرف: يا أبا عبد الله: أمن الموالي هو، أو من العرب؟ قال: هو التابعة يكون للرجل يصيب من خدمه سفاحا غير نكاح، وقال: " أهل الجنة ثلاثة ذو سلطان: مقسط مصدق، موقن، ورجل رحيم رقيق القلب بكل ذي قربى، ومسلم، ورجل عفيف فقير متصدق " قال همام: قال بعض أصحاب قتادة، ولا أعلمه إلا قال يونس الإسكاف: قال لي: إن قتادة لم يسمع حديث عياض بن حمار، من مطرف قلت: هو حدثنا عن مطرف، وتقول أنت لم يسمعه من مطرف قال فجاء أعرابي، فجعل يسأله، واجترأ عليه، قال: فقلنا للأعرابي سله هل سمع حديث عياض بن حمار، من مطرف فسأله، فقال: لا حدثني أربعة عن مطرف فسمى ثلاثة الذي قلت لكم
