Musnad Ahmad 85:1

Husayn ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Abu Uways narrated to us, Sharhabil narrated to us, from Jabbar ibn Sakhr al-Ansari, one of the Banu Salamah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said while he was on the road to Makkah: "Who will get ahead of us to al-Athayah?" — Abu Uways said: It is where the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) set out for — "and plaster its basin, and prepare it, and fill it so that we may arrive at it?" Jabbar said: So I stood up and said: I will. He said: "Go." So I went and arrived at al-Athayah, and I plastered its basin, and I prepared it, and I filled it. Then my eyes overcame me and I slept. I did not wake up except to a man whose riding beast was pulling him toward the water, and he was restraining it from it. He said: "O owner of the basin!" And behold, it was the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). I said: Yes. He said: So he brought his riding beast to drink, then he turned away, then he made it kneel, then he said: "Follow me with the water skin." So I followed him with it, and he performed ablution and perfected his ablution, and I performed ablution with him. Then he stood to pray, so I stood to his left, and he took my hand and moved me to his right, and we prayed. Not long after, the people arrived.
