Abdullah narrated to us, Khalaf ibn Hisham narrated to me, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: A mule died belonging to a man, so he came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, seeking his legal opinion. Jabir ibn Samurah claimed that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said to its owner: "Do you not have that which suffices you instead of it?" He said: "No." He said: "Then go and eat it."
