Surayj ibn al-Nu‘man narrated to us, ‘Abbad—meaning Ibn al-‘Awwam—narrated to us, from Hajjaj, from Simak ibn Harb, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: "There was thinness in the shanks of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. He would not laugh except by smiling. And when you looked at him, you would say, 'He is kohl-eyed,' yet he was not kohl-eyed."
