Musnad Ahmad 907:23

'Affan narrated to us, Abu 'Awanah narrated to us, from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: A mule died—and Hammad ibn Salamah said: A she-camel—belonging to a man. He came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, seeking a legal ruling from him. Jabir ibn Samurah claimed that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said to its owner: "Do you not have that which suffices you instead of it?" He said: "No." He said: "Go, then eat it." Abu 'Abd al-Rahman said: "The correct [version] is a she-camel."
