Abdullah narrated to us, Ahmad ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Simak, from Jabir ibn Samurah, who said: When food was gifted to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he would partake of it, then send the remainder to Abu Ayyub. Then food containing garlic was gifted to him, so he sent it to Abu Ayyub, but did not partake of anything from it. Abu Ayyub did not see the trace of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the food, so he brought it to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and asked him about that. He said: "I only left it because of its odor." Abu Ayyub said: "And I dislike what you dislike." *** Hasan narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, Simak—who is Ibn Harb—narrated to us, Jabir ibn Samurah narrated to me, that he heard the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say: "There will be twelve commanders after me." Then I do not know what he said after that, so I asked the people, and they said: He said: "All of them are from Quraysh."
