Musnad Ahmad 907:92

Abdullah narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn al-Hajjaj al-Naji narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Simak ibn Harb, from Jabir ibn Samurah, that when food was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he would eat from it and send the remainder to Abu Ayyub. Abu Ayyub would trace the marks of the fingers of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and he would place his fingers where he saw the marks of his fingers. One day, a platter was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), but he found the smell of garlic in it, so he did not taste it. He sent it to Abu Ayyub, but he did not see the marks of the fingers of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). He came and said: "O Messenger of Allah, I did not see the marks of your fingers in it." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I found the smell of garlic in it." He said: "Did you send me what you do not eat?" He said: "Indeed, the Angel comes to me."
